Bubba Wallace greets Kyle Larson after Larson powered to his first victory of the NASCAR Cup Series season Sunday, pulling away during the final green-flag stretch at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to win the Pennzoil 400. Larson became the fourth different winner in four Cup Series races this season, leading a race-high 103 of the 267 laps. The driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet netted his first win at the 1.5-mile Nevada track and the seventh of his Cup Series career. The triumph — his first with team owner Rick Hendrick — also broke a dry spell dating back to his most recent win, October 2019, at Dover International Speedway. Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Team Penske Ford) finished second, 3.156 seconds behind at the checkered flag. Kyle Busch (No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota) was third. Next up for the NASCAR Cup Series is the Instacart 500, Sunday, March 14 (3:30 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN, SiriusXM) at Phoenix Raceway. (K-PAX Racing)
K-PAX Racing swept the 2021 Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS season-opener at Sonoma Raceway, earning two wins and four podiums in its debut with Lamborghini Squadra Corse and in the Huracán GT3 EVO. “What a great weekend,” K-PAX Racing Program Manager Darren Law said. “It was a lot of hard-work switching manufacturers, but we had great support from Lamborghini and it’s just great for the team. All of our work was rewarded here at home. We could not have asked for anything better than a sweep of the weekend.” The sweep marks the sixth track where the team has won both rounds. In addition to the team’s peak performance during the first two rounds of 2021, the No. 3 of Andrea Caldarelli and Jordan Pepper also topped the charts in both practice and qualifying sessions. The Caldarelli-Pepper pairing was the quickest of each practice session, leading the field with a 1:36.798 and in an abbreviated second practice, a best time of 1:37.700. The No. 3 went on to earn back-to-back poles, with Caldarelli in the first group recording a 1:36.186 and Pepper with a 1:36.026 in the second. The pole-sitters soon became pace-setters later in the day, as the No. 3 carried a substantial gap from the field to the team’s first win of the season and 60th in history – also a monumental first victory for the team in its new relationship with Lamborghini. The two were able to double-down on their successes, mirroring the same result in the finale by a comfortable margin.
