(Pirelli)
Max Verstappen (No. 33 Red Bull Racing) won the Malaysian Grand Prix in dominant fashion as Lewis Hamilton (No. 44 AMG Petronas F1 Team) extended his championship lead by finishing second. Daniel Riciardo (No. 3 Red Bull Racing) finished third. Hamilton's title rival Sebastian Vettel (No. 5 Scuderia Ferrari) stormed from the back of the grid after encountering engine problems in qualifying to finish fourth, but the German has slipped 34 points behind Hamilton with five races to go and a maximum of 125 points still available.
(Toyota)
Kyle Busch (No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing M&Ms Caramel Toyota Camry) came back from being more than four seconds back and passed Chase Elliott (No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Mountain Dew Chevrolet) going in to the last lap late on Sunday afternoon to win the Apache Warrior 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway. It was the second straight playoff victory for Busch. Jimmie Johnson (No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Lowe's Chevrolet) finished third. “Man, I saw that carrot out there, and I wanted to go and get it,” said Busch, who won for the fourth time at Dover and the 42nd time in his career. “I got within five lengths and I stalled out and I was like, ‘Oh, man, I think that was it,’ you know? But I got back to the top and got enough momentum back rolling. Chase was kind of plugged up with the lapped cars in front of him, so I think the lapped cars actually helped us with that one. But, overall, just a great day for us.” Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch were eliminated from playoff contention, as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. claimed the 12th and final spot in the next round.
(Audi Sport)
Mattias Ekström (No. 1 Team EKS Audi S1 RX Quattro) claimed his fourth victory of the season in the FIA World Rallycross Championship
at the Estering. Timmy Hansen (No. 21 Team Peugeot-Hansen Peugeot 208 WRX) was second and Toomas Heikkinen (No. 57 Team EKS Audi S1 RX Quattro) finished third. “That was a fantastic weekend for us,” said Ekström. “After we won the title last year we celebrated by having a really big party, but we also have every reason to be satisfied this time. I’m especially happy for Topi, who has had so much bad luck this season, and was finally rewarded with third place.”
