After Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (Volkswagen Polo R WRC) won the Rally Australia, all the titles in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) go to Volkswagen for the third year in a row. The VW WRC team was crowned champion in the Drivers’, Co-Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ competitions just three quarters of the way into the season, which is earlier than any manufacturer before them in the history of the World Rally Championship. The VW WRC team finished 1-2 at the Rally Australia, the tenth of 13 WRC rounds on four continents.

Scott Speed (No. 41 Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle) regained the title of winningest driver in Red Bull Global Rallycross history by sweeping both main events of Red Bull GRC Los Angeles presented by Subaru Tecnica International last weekend. The victory elevated Speed to second in the championship standings and was the record-setting seventh win of his Red Bull GRC career. Brian Deegan (No. 38 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford Fiesta ST) finished second and Tanner Foust (No. 34 Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Beetle) finished third. After extending his championship lead on Saturday despite missing the main event, Ken Block’s (No. 43 Hoonigan Racing Division Ford Fiesta ST) fortunes took a major hit on Sunday. A contact-related mechanical issue in the main event relegated him to a ninth place finish, slicing his points lead down from 44 points over Sebastian Eriksson (No. 93 Red Bull Olsbergs MSE Ford Fiesta ST) to 13 over Speed. The top seven drivers are now separated by only 64 points heading into the final three races of the season, culminating in the November 4th finale in Las Vegas.

The GT Le Mans battle resumes at the Lone Star Le Mans weekend at the Circuit of The Americas, in Austin, Texas. Corvette Racing will be there to compete against BMW, Ferrari and Porsche with its two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs in Saturday’s two-hour, 40-minute event for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. A FIA World Endurance Championship race will follow the USCC race on the 3.4-mile, 20-turn, natural-terrain road racing circuit. With just two events remaining on the TUDOR Championship schedule – the Lone Star Le Mans and the 10-hour Petit Le Mans in two weeks at Road Atlanta - Corvette Racing remains in the thick of the GTLM Championship fray with Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen (No. 3 Corvette C7.R) second in points heading to Austin. The duo recorded victories in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring earlier in the season. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner (No. 4 Corvette C7.R) will be seeking their first victory in the 2015 USCC series, but they've already won the biggest race on the sports car racing calendar when they teamed with Jordan Taylor to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June - the eighth time that Corvette Racing has won Le Mans since 2001. The Lone Star Le Mans race for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is set for 11:35 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 19. It will air live on FOX Sports 2 and again at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 20 on FOX Sports 1. Flag-to-flag radio coverage also will be available via IMSA Radio. “It’s always a thrill for us to compete at such a sterling venue as Circuit of The Americas," commented Doug Fehan, Corvette Racing program manager. "It’s one of sports car racing’s biggest weekends with IMSA and our friends from the FIA World Endurance Championship. From our standpoint, the TUDOR Championship race is critical as we are winding down to the end of the season. Every lap and every position is important for GTLM points. The current BoP isn’t favorable but that doesn’t lessen our efforts and expectations to put on a great show for all the Corvette Racing fans in Austin!”

The world’s largest gathering of Porsche race cars and drivers will take place at Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway) when Porsche Cars North America hosts the Porsche Rennsport Reunion V, Sept. 25-27. Enthusiasts can expect to see an assemblage of most of the most historic Porsche racing machines in existence, from the nimble 550 Spyder of the mid-1950s through the mighty 917 (above) and 956/962 of the Seventies and Eighties to the highly successful RS Spyder of the last decade. Held about once every three years and last held in 2011 at Mazda Raceway, the Porsche Rennsport Reunion is considered to be one of the premier automotive events in the world. “The Monterey Peninsula is blessed to have the return of such a major manufacturer bringing tribute to their marque here at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/General Manager of the road racing facility. “There are going to be more Porsches on the Monterey Peninsula than anywhere else in the world and we welcome each and every one of them.” How many Porsches? A total of 281 race cars classified into seven racing groups will run on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile, natural-terrain road course. In addition to the on-track activities, Porsche Rennsport Reunion V will also include 63 Porsches in the Chopard Heritage Display, 15 Porsches in the Legends of Le Mans garages, and more than 1,400 Porsches in 20 car corrals. That’s nearly 1,800 Porsches either on the track or on display in one place at one time. Not to mention the street cars that will be crawling all over the place.

Hyundai showed a "Gran Turismo" Vision concept racing machine - the N 2025 - at Frankfurt, along with a couple of rally machines, and they also announced that its performance division would be called N. Huh? Cue Chevy Chase putting in "Caddy Shack," or something like that.
