Peter DeLorenzo has been in and around the sport of racing since the age of ten. Over the years DeLorenzo's commentaries on racing and the business of motorsports have resonated throughout the industry. Because of the burgeoning influence of those commentaries, DeLorenzo has directly consulted automotive clients on the fundamental direction and content of their motorsports programs. 2017 PETIT LE MANS PHOTO ESSAY.

Editor-in-Chief's Note: Rather than do a new "Fumes" column this week I thought we'd feature the exceptional photographic work of John Thawley from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2017 season finale - Petit Le Mans - which was run last Saturday at Road Atlanta. John is an old friend of mine from our previous other lives and it's a privilege to showcase his work in these pages. You can see more of John's work from Road Atlanta in this week's "The Line" and you can also access the full gallery of John's work from Road Atlanta and from other races throughout the 2017 season in the Autoextremist Image Gallery here. -PMD

Editor's Note: Many of you have seen Peter's references over the years to the Hydrogen Electric Racing Federation (HERF), which he launched in 2007. For those of you who weren't following AE at the time, you can read two of HERF's press releases here and here. And for even more details (including a link to Peter's announcement speech), check out the HERF entry on Wikipedia here. -WG
