Lamborghini Squadra Corse will enter the top class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as an official factory team for the first time, fighting for overall honors at the season-opening 24 Hours at Daytona this weekend. Competing as Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Lamborghini SC63 enters its second season of racing after making its debut in both the IMSA and FIA World Endurance Championships in 2024. This year, Squadra Corse has elected to concentrate its efforts purely on the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds of the North American series. Mirko Bortolotti, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara will be the drivers for the opening round of the year.

BMW dominated the speed charts during the opening two days of action at Daytona International Speedway’s 3.56-mile road course. The German brand set fast time in both of Saturday’s early Rolex 24 At Daytona practice sessions with the two BMW M Team RLL team cars ultimately sweeping the first two positions on the speed charts. While 25-year-old Sheldon van der Linde – who claimed the day’s overall fast lap of 1:36.196 in the No. 25 BMW M Hybrid V8 on Saturday afternoon – was clearly pleased with the team’s effort and what that may mean for next weekend’s Rolex 24 race, the South African cautioned that some competitors had been careful not to show their hand yet. “It’s only the Roar and we know a lot of people are sandbagging quite a lot,” he said. A two-hour night practice session was scheduled for Saturday followed by two final day sessions for WeatherTech Championship cars on Sunday (January 19). Qualifying for the Rolex 24 At Daytona is slated for next Thursday. The historic twice-around-the-clock race gets the green flag Saturday at 1:40 p.m. ET – and will be televised on NBC. Honda Racing Corporation USA is teaming up with Phillips 66 Lubricants as part of a season-long sponsorship and research and development deal. HRC US and Phillips 66 will work together to craft the perfect engine oil formula specific to the Acura ARX-06. As the current oil supplier of Honda and Acura service centers, Phillips 66 Lubricants is looking forward to enhancing its relationship with the Acura road car brand. The HRC US partnership provides Phillips 66 Lubricants access to a ‘rolling laboratory’ in the Acura ARX-06 to learn and refine oil blends for race and road cars alike. The No. 93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 will carry sponsorship from Phillips 66 Lubricants, though both Acura MSR GTP cars will work with Phillips 66 Lubricants to enhance performance and achieve results in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This partnership comes as HRC US expands its role within the series from a manufacturer to take on a larger operational role, and further develop personnel and technology for the hybrid electrified racing era. HRC US associates will race engineer the No. 93, while Acura Meyer Shank Racing will oversee the second Acura ARX-06, the No. 60.
