Jeff Burton. His win last Saturday night driving his No. 31 Richard Childress Racing AT&T Chevrolet at Lowe's Motor Speedway launched the 41-year-old Burton into the thick of the NASCAR Chase. “No one’s ever proven to me why you can’t do at 41 what you could do at 23,” he was quoted as saying. “We’re lucky to be in a sport that you can be successful in your 40s. You can convince yourself you’re too old to do it. Trust me, a lot of people will try to convince you you’re too old to do it. But with age comes a lot of advantages, too. And we’ll try to take those advantages every chance we get.” Amen, Jeff, amen.
Formula 1. The on-track Bush League Bullshit moves by
petulant drivers, the incessant whining, the tedious team owners, the
Bernie and Max Show, the sober nature of the whole thing - we can't
wait for the season to end.
Valentino Rossi. Is it just us or are the numbers emerging
from Valentino Rossi's tax problems almost beyond comprehension? He is
said to owe the Italian version of the IRS over $62 million, which is why
rumors of him going to F1 in 2009 - because he needs to replenish his
cash as quickly as possible and his contract with Ferrari would rival
Michael Schumacher's during his heyday - are heating up again.
