VICI Racing will partner with T-Mobile USA, Inc., in the American Le Mans Series in a multi-year relationship beginning with this weekend’s Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach. The team will debut its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in its new T-Mobile livery at North America’s premier street circuit, and then contest the remaining rounds of the ALMS season.

Yet another new motorsports complex will be built in the Far East, this time in Injae, South Korea, with a target opening of 2011. Wilson Sahara Motorsports is the company responsible for its design. Alan Wilson, Principal of Wilson Sahara Motorsports, the Salt Lake City, Utah, track design team that designed and constructed Miller Motorsports Park, revealed early details yesterday of the new Theme Auto Park Injae race facility to be built at Injae, east of Seoul in South Korea. “We have been working on this project for several months, and now that the concept for the facility has been agreed with the developers, Korea Racing Festival, we have begun the detail design phase that will see the complex open in 2011,” said Wilson. The site is set in an impressive mountain region in the northern area of the South Korean peninsula, according to the developers, and has been designed with specific attention to its impact on the environment and the natural beauty of the surrounding area. “The 4.0-kilometer twin-layout track has significant elevation changes which will make it both challenging and very spectacular,” says Wilson, whose 28 constructed race facility designs include the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The Injae facility will feature Formula One-quality garages and spectator facilities, a hotel and a condominium building as well as an international-standard kart track, but is not intended for Formula One competition. The track will be designed to meet FIA Grade 2 standards and has the potential to host series such as Asia GP2, A1GP, Asian Le Mans Series and the Japanese Touring Car and GT championships. Wilson Sahara Motorsport LLC is a company formed by Wilson Motorsport Inc., and Sahara Inc., a major construction management group based in Salt Lake City, combining the 30 years of track management, design and development skills of Alan Wilson and former Formula One/IndyCar driver Desiré Wilson and the well-established construction and facility development expertise of Tom Mabey’s Sahara Inc.
