Lewis Hamilton (No. 44 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team) has claimed a long-awaited – and record-breaking – ninth British Grand Prix victory in a thrilling race at Silverstone, with the Mercedes driver holding off a challenge from Lando Norris (No. 4 McLaren Formula 1 Team) to take the win. While pole-sitter George Russell (No. 63 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team) had led away from Hamilton as the event got underway, an exciting battle soon unfolded between the two Mercedes cars and the McLaren pair of Norris and Oscar Piastri (No. 81 McLaren Formula 1 Team) amid changing weather conditions. The lead changed hands as the field began to switch to intermediate tires after the opening phase of the race, before the skies later became dry and Hamilton capitalized from pitting for slicks one lap before Norris – who also faced a slow pit stop – to become the new race leader. While Russell retired with a water system issue – and Max Verstappen (No. 1 Oracle Red Bull Racing) snatched P2 from Norris in the latter stages – Hamilton held position to clinch an emotional victory, a record ninth win in a single Grand Prix and his first P1 result since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. After putting together the perfect race on Sunday, Francesco Bagnaia (No. 1 Ducati Lenovo Team) has taken victory at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland and is now in control of the Championship. Bagnaia completed his 200th GP in style after a surprise P1 finish at the Sachsenring. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez (No. 93 Gresini Racing MotoGP™) completed a phenomenal comeback, storming to second after qualifying down in P13. The #93 had a Grand Prix full of drama but would cross the line to take a historic podium. The final spot on the podium went the way of Alex Marquez (No. 73 Grassini Racing MotoGP™), which cemented the Marquez brother’s names into the history books as the first brothers to share a premier class podium since 1997. Jorge Martin (No. 89 Prima Pramac Racing) was missing at the checkered flag, however, after the he crashed out of the lead with just 2 laps to go. Watch the Race Highlights here. Pato O’Ward resisted constant pressure from NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship leader Alex Palou over the closing laps to win The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2025 Civic Hybrid on Sunday. O’Ward slid his No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet sideways through the final corner on the 13-turn, 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to hold off Palou’s No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Ridgeline Lubricants Honda by .4993 of a second, the closest finish this season on a road or street circuit. “That was a hard-fought race,” O’Ward said. “We were really, really strong on the reds (Firestone Firehawk alternate tires). Palou was really, really strong on the blacks (Firestone Firehawk primary tires). So, all I needed to do was kind of stay up in the first stint and come into the pits and put those reds on and kind of try to close the gap.” This was the sixth career NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory for O’Ward and his second this season. But he inherited the first win from the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding after Josef Newgarden, who crossed the line first ahead of O’Ward, was disqualified in April after it was discovered Team Penske illegally used the Push to Pass system. “Great job by the team,” O’Ward said. “Oh, it’s been a while. I know we won St. Pete, but this is a proper win. We earned this one this weekend.” Scott McLaughlin finished third in the No. 3 Team Penske Sonsio Chevrolet, his second podium place in the last three races. Watch the Race Highlights here.
