Publisher's Note: Peter Brock, a friend of ours and a man who needs no introduction to knowledgeable Autoextremist readers, sent this photo from the Baja 1000 along with the following note - "Hi...thought you might enjoy seeing this shot from the Baja 1000 taken a couple of days ago while chasing the VW Touareg. Note the spectators sitting on the little outcropping of rock enjoying the race. They drove miles into the back country the night before just to spend the day watchin’ the racers. There were thousands of them along the course like this. Pretty neat, huh? What better way to spend the day." - PMD

Josef Newgarden, Conor Daly and Jeremy Shaw. In a motorsports world that generally looks down on the notion of young American driving talent, two American teenagers recently wowed the world and proved otherwise as Josef Newgarden won the Kent race at Brands Hatch’s Formula Ford Festival on October 19th and Conor Daly took the Walter Hayes Memorial race at Silverstone on November 2nd. The two boys ably represented Jeremy Shaw's fantastic driver development program - Team USA - and tallied the two best American performances in a major British Formula Ford race in the entire 40 year history of the racing category. Read Gordon Kirby's spot-on summary of the boys' excellent adventures in England here.
