(Porsche images) The new Porsche Panamera GTS and Porsche Panamera GTS Sport Turismo models have been added to the Panamera range. Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 453HP from 6,000 to 6,500 RPM and peak torque of 457 lb.-ft. from 1,800 to 4,500 RPM, the new Panamera GTS offers an increase of 13HP and an additional 73 lb.-ft. of torque as compared to the previous Panamera GTS with a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8. The new Porsche Panamera GTS and Porsche Panamera GTS Sport Turismo models accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.9 seconds with all-wheel-drive and an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission with the standard Porsche Traction Management (PTM). The GTS reaches a top track speed of 181 mph, the GTS Sport Turismo hits 179 mph. The chassis of the two new models now sits 0.39 inches (10 millimeters) lower than other Panamera models. The Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) dampers, which are included as part of the standard Air Suspension, are recalibrated for these models. Large brakes (390 millimeters in diameter at the front, 365 millimeters in diameter at the rear) provide proper stopping power. Other standard equipment highlights include the Sport Chrono package, a Sport Exhaust system including tailpipes in black, the Sport Design package with black exterior elements, and black 20-inch Panamera Design wheels. Black Alcantara® and anodized aluminum are part of package the interior. A heated multifunction sport steering wheel in Alcantara trim and the Connect Plus module for a wide range of digital services are also standard. With the optional GTS Interior package, drivers can contrast elements of the interior, including stitching, GTS logos, and the tachometer in either Carmine Red or Chalk. Porsche also announced that an optional head-up display with multiple configurations will become available for ordering on all models in the Panamera lineup. In the United States, the Panamera GTS starts at $128,300, while the Panamera GTS Sport Turismo starts at $134,500 (not including $1,050 for delivery, processing and handling). (Chevrolet) The newest crate engines from Chevrolet Performance go on display at the SEMA Show at the end of this month in a trio of vintage vehicles that showcase the installation possibilities for builders. The lineup includes a 1973 Chevelle Laguna with the all-new LT5 6.2L supercharged crate engine, a 1967 C/10 with the all-new ZZ6 EFI 5.7L V-8 crate engine, and a 1978 Silverado with the L96 6.0L V-8 crate engine. The Chevelle Laguna features the new LT5 6.2L supercharged crate engine. It’s based on the engine that drives that Corvette ZR1 and is the most powerful production engine ever from Chevrolet, rated at 755 horsepower and 715 lb.-ft. of torque. Chevrolet designers adapted the production ZR1’s carbon fiber hood styling on the Laguna, in a nod to the propulsion system, along with front and rear spoilers that pay homage to the NASCAR racecars of the Seventies. The car rides on a modified suspension and 18-inch wheels.
